Vellum’s Director of Operations, Jonathan D. Woods, recently produced a rough cut of a new industrial video for the Cedar Rapids Gazette, an eastern Iowa newspaper. This tower crew was part of the same company that Vellum shot a year ago. It was during that industrial photography shoot that Vellum produced one if its better known images, which is the image below.

This video, a quick look at a coal tipple operation in Eastern Kentucky, is a quick piece we threw together several months ago with some extra footage and some still images we had left over following a shoot this past fall. We pieced the video together during a brainstorming session with the Vellum Industrial team during the planning stages of an upcoming video shoot scheduled for late March.

The Vellum team had a great time in January producing a portrait series of the hard working men at Frasure Creek in Eastern Kentucky, and we put together this quick and dirty clip to give everyone a sneak peak at the kind of work required on a day- to-day basis at an active mine site. Vellum will be back to produce a series of all video pieces with the new Canon 5D Mark ll in a couple of months.

Vellum’s Director of Operations, Jonathan D. Woods, recently produced a video highlighting Iowa’s passionate snowmobiling community for the Cedar Rapids Gazette, an eastern Iowa newspaper. We’re excited about this video for a number of reasons, one of which is that it was shot entirely on Canon’s new 5D Mark ll camera body. This camera is the future of both video and still photography, enabling photographers/videographers to shoot remarkable HD video footage and produce an exceptionally high quality still image all with the same camera body.
