Back in Eastern Kentucky

Both Nathan Weber and I were in Hazard, Ky., last week as producers for a documentary workshop sponsored by the Student Publications department at the University of Kentucky. Â The week long workshop gives UK photojournalism students the opportunity to spend a full week working on photo stories, multimedia combining video and still images, and extended documentary work under the coaching of professional photographers that we invite in from across the country. Though we were busy running the workshop for the week, Nathan and I managed to find time to shoot some on our own, and the two pictures below are a snippet of some of that work. Â The week in Hazard was a preview for January, when we will be back on our own to do some extended work in a series of strip mining operations in the eastern end of the state for Vellum.
